Bynes ‘takes up painting’
Amanda Bynes has developed an art hobby while in treatment.
The actress is currently in the care of mental health professionals since being placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in July.
And she is apparently expressing her creative side through a newfound love for art.
“Amanda paints nonstop. It’s helped get her focus and confidence back,” a source tells Star magazine. “She’s finding herself again in such a beautiful way. Her progress is just incredible!”
Amanda’s artistic progress has impressed the staff so much they even allegedly brought in a famous artist to give her a private lesson.
The 27-year-old is making progress in treatment, and may soon be appearing in court.
According to TMZ, Amanda has been deemed healthy enough to face the judge concerning her DUI case.
“Amanda's case was in Mental Health Court this AM, and the judge read the court-ordered medical evaluation of the actress, and determined she is now competent to face the DUI charges,” the website said last week.
Amanda was taken into police custody on April 6, 2012 after hitting a police car in West Hollywood, CA. She was under suspicion of driving while intoxicated, something she vehemently denied at the time.
Not long after that incident, the star was charged with two counts of hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license.
Amanda’s mother Lynn Bynes has legal control over her finances and well-being until she recovers.
