Caitlyn Jenner to join the cast of Transparent
The transgender star is set to flex her acting muscles in the hit show.
Kim Kardashian's step-parent Caitlyn Jenner has landed a dream role in top TV drama Transparent.
The award-winning show's creator Jill Soloway announced the shock casting news at the GLAAD Media Awards in Beverly Hills on Saturday (02Apr16).
The writer/director revealed the former Olympian will begin filming scenes later this month (Apr16), and she'll appear alongside the show's star Jeffrey Tambor in the series' upcoming third season.
Tambor portrays a transgender character called Maura Pfefferman on the show.
Jenner was in the audience at the GLAAD Media Awards, where she also picked up the Outstanding Reality Show prize for her reality series I Am Cait. Her hit show tied for the honour with I Am Jazz, which features 15-year-old trans activist Jazz Jennings.
Caitlyn responded to the casting news by posting a photo of herself with Transparent star Judith Light and adding the caption: "So excited".
Soloway and the Transparent cast were also big winners at the GLAAD Media Awards - the show was named Outstanding Comedy Series.
It's shaping up to be another big year for Caitlyn after recently achieving her dream of playing alongside female golf professionals for the first time in a tournament on Wednesday (30Mar16).
The reality TV star, who came out as a transgender woman last year (15), took part in the ANA Inspiration Pro-Am Tournament at Rancho Mirage Country Club in California, where amateur players join professionals from America's Ladies' Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour for a round. The charity contest was held on the eve of the professionals' ANA Inspiration tournament, one of the five biggest events in women's golf.
