Calvin 'was wary of Rita's ex'

Calvin Harris is said to have put Rita Ora on a pedestal during their relationship but was hurt by some of her behaviour.

The two music stars enjoyed a long-term romance but announced their split in June, after just over a year of dating.

Calvin shocked fans by informing them of the breakup via his Twitter page, but hasn't opened up any further. Rita also hasn't shed light on the situation, but friends say distance played a part, as well as Rita's friendship with Dave Gardner, who is now dating Liv Tyler.

"Calvin put Rita on a pedestal, indulging her every whim and giving her a credit card on his account. Their careers meant that they spent long stretches apart, and I think Calvin was hurt when he found out that Rita had been in LA at the same time as him without letting him know she was there," an insider told British magazine Grazia.

"He also had to deal with speculation about her closeness to her ex, football agent Dave Gardner, after she was spotted leaving his house. Even after Calvin and Rita split, he was shocked by how quickly she was pictured with Tommy Hilfiger's son, Ricky Hil. He doesn't feel that he owes her anything."

Much has been made of the fact Calvin wouldn't let 23-year-old Rita perform their joint track I Will Never Let You Down at last month's Teen Choice Awards. He's also said to be holding back other songs he produced from her forthcoming album.

"Calvin had done four tracks, which was practically half the album. By taking them back, he's screwed her royally. She's furious that her personal life has infringed on her career and is desperate to prove herself with her second album," the insider added.
