Cara De La Hoyde pregnant with ex Nathan Massey's baby
Cara discovered she was pregnant just two weeks before they broke up.
Love Island winners Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey are to become first-time parents, despite no longer being together.
Circus performer Cara, 26, and carpenter Nathan, 24, took home a £50,000 prize after emerging victorious on last year's (16) series. But despite appearing as though they were the perfect couple, there was drama behind the scenes, with the pair calling time on their relationship last month (Apr17).
Now Cara has revealed she and Nathan are expecting a baby, and discovered she was pregnant just two weeks before they broke up.
However, Cara insists the baby news doesn't change anything in terms of the state of the former couple's relationship.
"It’s a shame and a sad situation," she told The Sun. "I know a lot of people will think, well you’re going to have a baby together so just stay together – but we’re not going to do that just to look like the perfect couple."
Neither Cara or Nathan have commented on the pregnancy on their social media pages.
Cara and Nathan previously revealed they were hoping to start a family after winning the ITV2 series.
Speaking during the final in a segment tasking the remaining couples to tell their partners how they felt about each other, Cara told Nathan: "I wanna look back on this in 30 years time and show our grandchildren how we met and that we used to be banging. We’ve got this far, let’s keep going on this crazy adventure, still making memories and let’s one day make some babies."
Their child isn’t the first Love Island baby; Cally-Jane Beech and Luis Morrison, who dated before but rekindled their romance on the 2015 series, recently welcomed daughter Vienna into the world. After a 32-hour labour, Cally-Jane was forced to have an emergency Cesarean section, and is now calling for a change in labour procedures in the U.K.
