Cara: From modelling to music?
Cara Delevingne has reportedly got the music bug after performing in New York recently.
The blonde model is slowly moving away from her catwalk roots, and has recently been cast in several new films.
Not content with conquering the fashion and movie worlds, Cara is also said to be keen to show off her vocal talents.
Last week she took to the stage in New York for an impromptu gig, and has now apparently got the bug to start some serious recording.
"Cara's often admitted modelling isn't her true passion, and now she's more ready than ever to kick-start her music career. Last week she performed her fist ever gig with a full band, and it was once of the proudest moments of her career so far," an insider revealed to British magazine Grazia.
"She arrived on stage unannounced, and loved having the chance to let her music speak for itself. Now she's desperate to get into the studio and finish her album."
Some of her famous pals are backing her transition into music, with superstar producer Pharrell Williams lending his support.
But Cara apparently doesn't want to lean too much on others, preferring to make it on her own.
"Pharrell has been acting as one of her unofficial mentors. But there's no talk of a duet. She's keen to establish herself in her own right, starting from the bottom and working on her live performances.
"She's been inundated with offers of a record deal, but she doesn't even have a manger. She feels like she can take her time, so that when she does launch as an artist everyone will be blown away," the insider added.
The 22-year-old was rumoured to be seeking advice from Simon Cowell, but apparently the deal wasn't right for her.
"Simon asked to meet her last year and they got on well, but she's isn't going to pursue it. Simon's vision was too pop and contrived for her. She plays guitar and likes her live vocals to be quite rock and raw.
"She'll keep modelling because she'd be a fool to turn down the big money deals that she's handed on a plate, but fashion is very much taking a backseat while she concentrates on music," the source explained.
