Carmen Electra and her fiancé reportedly thought that repairing their relationship "just wasn't possible."
The actress and musician Rob Patterson became engaged in April 2008.
It was rumoured that the pair called it quits in May, but at the time Carmen and Rob denied these claims.
Now they are officially no longer together, as Rob changed his Facebook profile status from "engaged" to "single" Monday.
Apparently the former couple, who are thought to have split within the past month, just could not reconcile.
"They have been trying to work things out for a while, but it just wasn't possible," a source told Radar Online.
"Rob recently moved out of Carmen's house and is staying with friends."
Carmen was spotted enjoying an intimate meal with Simon Cowell at Italian restaurant Cecconi's in West Hollywood over a week ago.
Reports state that the 53-year-old music mogul and former Playboy playmate Carmen couldn't keep their hands off each other.
The duo first sparked rumours they were interested in each other when Simon signed up Carmen to appear as a guest judge on Britain's Got Talent in February.
