Cate Blanchett: Work and family life are muddled

Cate Blanchett's work and family often become "muddled up".

The actress spoke about how her personal life and movie career are intertwined and said that while it can be chaotic to mix the two, it usually works out.

The Hollywood star most recently collaborated with her husband Andrew Upton on his adaptation of theatre play Uncle Vanya.

"There is not a lot of separation between work and home life. The kids hang out at the theatre, and it all gets a bit muddled up, but it somehow works," she told the New York Post.

Cate explained that the fact she and her spouse feel so passionate about their craft helps them work together.

She joked that if they were to labour on a more mundane project things might not go so smoothly.

The couple met when Cate performed in a stage production of The Seagull. They got married in 1997 and have three sons together.

"We do what we love - it's not like we are running a supermarket or something," she laughed.
