Cattrall sizzles in new stage role
Kim Cattrall brought sexy to the city of London on the opening night of her new stage role in Sweet Bird Of Youth.
The 56-year-old Sex And The City star plays faded Hollywood actress Alexandra Del Lago in the new production of Tennessee Williams' play at The Old Vic theatre, directed by War Horse's Marianne Elliott, with 26-year-old Broadway star Seth Numrich as the gigolo toy boy.
Despite her experience, Cattrall credited her co-star with being her "equal partner" in their sizzling performance, which she compared to a game of tennis.
She said: "I feel this way almost on every project, I feel like I have to learn how to act again. I feel that both of us were at that level and we've grown together.
"And it really is like playing a great tennis match with Nadal and Federer - he grabs the ball and throws it over in my direction and I throw it back.
"That's how it feels every night, it feels like tennis! But equal partners."
Kevin Spacey, artistic director at The Old Vic, approached Cattrall personally and asked her to take on the role.
He was in the audience offering enthusiastic support on her opening night.
Sweet Bird Of Youth runs at The Old Vic until Saturday August 31.
