Celebrities join New Year revelry

Jonathan Ross wished everyone a happy New Year on Twitter

Celebrities have taken to Twitter to wish their fans a happy new year.

Television host Jonathan Ross wrote: "Happy New Year to everyone on Twitter. Even the weirdos. Actually, make that ESPECIALLY the weirdos."

Presenter and singer Myleene Klass, who had an eventful year that saw her get married and give birth to her second daughter, wrote: "Happy New Year guys and gals. Xxx."

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow wrote: "Happy New Year everyone from Abu Dhabi! Hoping 2012 is your best year ever."

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield wrote: "A very Happy New Year to you, your friends and your family. I hope you have a fantastic 2012 xx."

Singer Kylie Minogue told her fans: "H*a*p*p*y*N*e*w*Y*e*a*r and love to you all :)"

Queen of shops Mary Portas was overseas for the festive period, and wrote: "On a beach in Mauritius sending a lantern wish for a Happy New Year to all my friends & followers."

Sarah Brown said she was out with her husband, former prime minister Gordon Brown, for the night and added: "Wishing the wonderful world of Twitter and all those here to tweet a happy, successful and peaceful New Year #2012."

Broadcaster Jon Snow wrote: "Hope you everything you ever dare hope for in 2012: we all deserve it! Wishing a fulfilling and happy New Year!"

Presenter Stephen Fry told his fans: "Happy 2012 and love to all followers and friends xxx."
