Charlie Sheen's cancer scare

Charlie Sheen battled a pre-cancerous throat condition for a year.

The actor has had a tumultuous year which has included calling off his engagement, a lawsuit and having his latest TV show cancelled. But on Tuesday it was revealed that he had also been secretly dealing with a horrifying cancer scare.

“It was terrifying,” he told the National Enquirer, as he spoke about his health problems for the first time.

The 49-year-old has been a heavy smoker for years, but when he started to suffer problems with his throat, he sought out a world-renowned throat and vocal cord specialist. He was told that he was facing a “very aggressive procedure” that could cause irreparable damage to his dental work, and even worse, his voice.

However Charlie has always been known for being strong willed and the former Two and a Half Men star was no different when faced with his latest hurdle. Instead of feeling sorry for himself or scared, he decided to remain positive.

“I never gave up hope that I would beat this challenge,” he added.

Charlie has maintained his upbeat attitude when it comes to the other bad news he has received recently.

It was confirmed this month that no new episodes of his show Anger Management will go into production. The series began in 2012 and saw the father-of-five take on the role of a therapist, with his co-stars including Selma Blair and Brian Austin Green.

“I am beyond proud of what we accomplished over the course of 100 episodes of Anger Management,” Charlie told RadarOnline exclusively.

“We created something uniquely special with some of the most talented individuals I have ever had the privilege to work with. My sincere thanks to all for their unwavering love and support. Here’s to the next chapter.”
