Jessica Chastain is looking forward to glamming up for the Golden Globes because she never went to prom.
The star is nominated for Best Actress for her role in Zero Dark Thirty.
The Kathryn Bigelow film tells the story of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks on America.
Jessica said she was "stunned" to hear the news of her nomination on Thursday morning.
And she's looking forward to attending the ceremony on January 13 to live out her childhood fantasy of attending the high school dance.
"I never got invited to my prom at my school, so I never had the opportunity to dress up when I was younger," she told USA Today.
"Until the past couple of years. And now being able to go to the Golden Globes, it just means not only is it such a beautiful thing to be recognised for playing this incredible woman, Maya, now it's like, 'I get to wear pretty dresses again!'"
Jessica also recognised the weight of playing a young CIA operative based on a real-life woman involved in the hunt for Bin Laden.
She called making the film the hardest thing she's ever done.
"It's very meaningful because lead female characters in movies usually are defined by the men. This is a woman who completely stands on her own," she explained.
The actress called it "an honour" to represent that character onscreen.
