Chelsea Handler will laugh at anything

Chelsea Handler knew she could make money from being funny the moment she started laughing at her own jokes.

The 39-year-old comedienne made a name for herself hosting talk show Chelsea Lately on US channel E! and is known for her quick-witted humour. It seems this personality trait is a natural one for Chelsea, who admits she finds even the most solemn environments amusing.

"I've always just found the funny in situations. Everything can be funny," she mused to British newspaper Metro. "I definitely find the most serious experiences are funny - weddings and funerals. I like making jokes out of everything. I realised I could make a career out of it when I started laughing at my own jokes."

Chelsea's programme has been running since 2007 and has seen the likes of stars such as Katy Perry and Jennifer Aniston as guests. Next month the popular show is coming to an end, and the star already has new projects in the pipeline.

"Yeah, that's one reason," she replied when asked if she's wrapping up because she's sick of celebrities. "I'm done with that. I just outgrew it. It's like being with the same man for seven years.

"I'm moving to Netflix to do a new late-night show, starting in 2016. I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested if I was going to continue working in this industry."

It seems Chelsea has grown as a person since hitting the small screen all those years ago, and has taken notes from all the experiences in her life.

"I think you learn the most from yourself. You learn from your mistakes or things that work out well," she added. "And you learn from talking too much. You just have to not be a complete narcissist. You have to keep an observational distance from yourself and not be so immersed in yourself you look like a jackass. Piers Morgan is a good example of that."
