Chelsee tops Strictly leaderboard

Chelsee Healey

Chelsee Healey topped the leaderboard with a Shrek-themed jive while footballer Robbie Savage dropped to the bottom in the Strictly Come Dancing quarter-final.

Painted green, Chelsee's dance partner Pasha Kovalev looked like a very thin Shrek while the Waterloo Road actress played Princess Fiona in the character's human form.

Their performance impressed the judges so much it had Bruno Tonioli at the edge of his seat. "This gets you fast-tracked to the semis," he said.

Fellow judge Alesha Dixon was just as excited. "It was cute, it was fun, it was playful, you were kicking and flicking like no one's business, your turns were excellent.

"You found your dance. This was incredible."

Chelsee scored three 10s and a nine to land her on top of the leaderboard.

Robbie and partner Ola Jordan's quickstep to a Reservoir Dogs soundtrack failed to keep them from being in the firing line as they slipped to the last rung.

Elsewhere The One Show's Alex Jones performed a Pretty Woman-inspired American Smooth, while Australian actor Jason Donovan channelled Gene Kelly's Singing In The Rain in the same dance. All four judges believed he had taken a risk trying to recreate such a classic but believed he had pulled it off. "It was a very special performance," Bruno said.

Attracting equally strong praise was Australian model Holly Valance and Artem Chigvintsev's Zoro-themed flamenco. Craig Revel Horwood said Holly needed to lift her eye line but added that "this was your personal best".

Also receiving high praise for his Robin Hood-inspired rumba was McFly's Harry Judd. Alesha told him it was one of the best performances by a male celebrity in the tricky Latin dance for a long time.
