Cher: Sonny’s not haunting me!
Cher insists she never said the ghost of ex-husband Sonny Bono is haunting her.
The 67-year-old star, who was married to the late singer from 1964 to 1975, was quoted by TMZ earlier this week saying that his spirit had turned the lights on in her home when there was no power.
One of her fans took to Twitter commenting on the story, insinuating the pop star was being “haunted” and Cher responded promptly, insisting that while she feels Sonny’s “presence” it’s not a negative one.
“Son's Not HAUNTING ME! He plays around W/Chandelier in My Rm! He's just being Son...He's €%*!¥ With Me,” she wrote, adding, “Funny Still Feel Presence.”
According to TMZ, Cher told the website she believes Sonny is still playing pranks on her over 15 years after his death.
"I actually think that Sonny makes a light go on (in the house)," she was quoted saying.
“I have a beautiful chandelier that he makes the light go on when it is impossible, there is no power on."
Sonny died in January 1998 after a skiing accident near Lake Tahoe, California. The former couple had one child together, Chastity Bono, now known as Chaz.
Cher has thrust herself in the spotlight in recent months as she prepares for her Dressed to Kill US tour.
The 49-city trek is scheduled to kick off March 19 in Northampton, Pennsylvania and the star recently revealed she has more energy than ever and can still squeeze into her famous fishnet bodystocking from the music video for her 1989 hit If I Could Turn Back Time.
Speaking to UK newspaper The Sun, Cher said: “People love that I can still wear it on stage. I wore it for my shows in Las Vegas [from 2008 to 2011].
"A friend said to me that a woman is sexy while she can still put on her stockings," she continued, musing, "I thought, 'I can do better than that, I can still put on my body stocking'. They'll probably even dress me in it when I'm dead.”
