Chloë Grace Moretz: I've known hardship

Chloë Grace Moretz

Chloë Grace Moretz has shared the hardships from her childhood that made her grow up fast.

The 16-year-old actress is best known for her portrayal of cool crime fighter Hit-Girl in the movie Kick-Ass.

Her grown-up roles and mature attitude towards life are born out of a troubled childhood.

Chloë's father left the family, when she was a child which was followed by her mother being diagnosed with cancer when she was ten.

"He's not in my life. There's been a lot of bad stuff that has happened and we've risen out of the ashes. I'm a better person because of it. I've learnt what not to do with my life," she told UK InStyle magazine. "[Finding out about my mum's cancer] it was scary and hard. It made me realise, along with everything that happened with my dad, that your parents aren't these godly figures. They're not chosen by the heavens. They're human. They make mistakes. They cry. They fight. It definitely, from a young age, put things into perspective for me. I realised that everything is not peaches and cream."

Her maturity extends to how she handles her growing fame in Hollywood. Despite her young age, Chloë takes business meetings on her own.

"Last year I started doing all my meetings alone. Trevor [her brother] is my creative and mom is my business - the lawyers, managers and money. What I do in meetings is purely creative," she explained. "[Do I get intimidated] No. What have I got to be intimidated about?"
