Chris Evans seeks sober lifestyle

Chris Evans says he's giving up booze

Chris Evans has given up drinking, to see what life is like sober.

According to media reports, the TV and radio presenter revealed he made the decision to become teetotal after a drinking session last week, which began at a charity event in the City with Prince Harry.

Chris said: "I have never felt like I did [the next morning]. Not hungover, or particularly messy; no more inept than usual. But I just felt plain weird. I don't want to feel like that ever again.

He added: "I want to know what I'm really like completely sober, and to see if I can achieve more without the highs and lows of the gay days and fuggy haze of booze.

"It's been a long time coming - 45 years, five months and 17 days, to be precise.

"But finally it's here. I'm stopping drinking. Not tea or coffee and especially not water - but alcohol.

"I've been thinking about it for a good while now. And I simply have to do it. I want to know what I'm like completely sober."

The married father-of-two - who was fined £7,000 by Radio 1 bosses in 1995 after a 17-hour pub crawl before he was due on air - is aiming to quit drinking until his 46th birthday next April.

He said: "Then, whether I choose to drink or not, either way it will be a present to myself."
