Chris Hemsworth: Women rule my home

Chris Hemsworth has joked he is thrilled to be named Man of the Year because he will never be man of his house.

The Australian hunk has had a successful time in 2012, appearing in box office hits Avengers Assemble and Snow White and the Huntsman. British magazine Empire has named Chris their Man of the Year and the 28-year-old star has claimed he is thrilled with the honour - since he has no influence with his wife Elsa and baby daughter India Rose.

"It's pretty funny. It's very nice and thank you very much, firstly. I was just discussing this - like, what does that mean? Man of the Year? I'd love to be man of the house but with my wife and now my daughter I don't think I'll ever hold that title!" Chris laughed to the publication. "They certainly run the show. But any sort of indication that people like what you're doing, and which in turn allows me to keep doing it, is a huge plus."

Chris revealed the arrival of his first child earlier this year had a huge impact on him. Becoming a father put his life in perspective and made him think about what he wants to achieve.

"I feel sort of more relaxed. Now the challenge is to stay that way: to stay in the moment and not get caught in the past or in the future and just enjoy what's right in front of me," he explained. "I love staying busy and I think the next challenge is to be a bit more choosy with what you're doing and not overexpose yourself in a lot of ways. But also, having a kid in amongst this year has been the best distraction because it certainly made everything fade into the background, in the best way, and put things in perspective."

Chris reprised his role as Thor for Avengers Assemble. He loves playing the arrogant Norse warrior, but admits the costumes can be difficult to handle. The star joked that a cape isn't always the easiest thing to manoeuvre during action scenes.

"Yeah, it's the most impractical thing in the world. It's like, why would you ever put that on?" he mused. "Because anytime you're down on your knees rolling, you're tripping on it. You're basically wearing a dress on top of excess amounts of rubber and metal."
