Chris O'Dowd stole Cannes candles

Chris O'Dowd couldn't resist stealing designer candles from a party in Cannes last night.

The Irish actor shot to fame last year after appearing in the hit comedy Bridesmaids. Chris is attending the Cannes Film Festival to promote his latest movie, The Sapphires, and has been getting up to mischief at some glitzy parties.

"We were laughing last night because we went to a party and there were lovely candles everywhere, you know the way they have candles on tables? Well, these were Diptyque candles. So I blew a few of them out and threw them in a bag," he quipped to UK TV show Lorraine. "At one point I was trying to have a really serious conversation with Harvey Weinstein about the film and I had two candles behind my back."

Chris claims that his fiancée, TV presenter Dawn Porter, has also been making the most of the many freebies handed out at the annual French movie event.

"She is back in the hotel room just about as hungover as I am. She is packing up the stuff and trying to blag free stuff, I am sure," he joked.

Chris won an army of fans playing Kristen Wiig's love interest in Bridesmaids. When asked how difficult it was to play the sensitive police officer character, the 32-year-old laughingly claimed it came naturally.

"It was just no acting involved there, it was so natural, as Dawn will tell you I am just ideal. It is just raw sexual appeal," he added.
