Chris Pine's 'drink driving charge'
Chris Pine has allegedly been arrested for drink driving in New Zealand.
The 33-year-old actor has been in New Zealand recently, filming his movie Z for Zachariah. He had apparently been celebrating the end of the shoot at a bar in the town of Methven when he was stopped by police.
The incident occurred on Saturday March 1, with local authorities confirming a 33-year-old American man had been stopped. Privacy laws in the country mean the individual wasn’t named.
According to The New Zealand Herald, Chris will appear before Ashburton District Court on Monday after he was allegedly discovered to have a high blood alcohol reading.
The publication has spoken to the manager of the Blue Pub Methven, who explained the venue was hired by around 70 people who had been working on Z for Zachariah for a wrap party.
“Chris Pine arrived here and had his supermodel girlfriend [Iris Bjork Johannesdottir] with him and he spent most of his time with her, she flew in that day someone told me,” Casey Crawford said.
Casey explained Chris was happy to pose for photos with people, although he felt the revellers were somewhat “subdued” during the evening.
“You can see the photos behind the bar with our staff and he looked fine, I only ever saw him drinking tap beer and his partner she was just drinking sav wine,” he said.
Police haven’t given any other comment.
Z for Zachariah is directed by Craig Zobel and also stars Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It is about a teenage girl who survives a nuclear war in a US town.
