Chris Rock divorce latest
There is no third party involved in Chris Rock's divorce, insiders claim.
The comedian confirmed his split from his wife of 18 years, Malaak Compton-Rock, on Sunday and he’s claimed in court documents that he’s been prevented from seeing his daughters Zahra, ten, and Lola 12, on a regular basis.
Amid this bitter dispute, sources close to the former couple insist to TMZ there is no third party involved and that it will be a “simple divorce”. Chris was reportedly unwilling to continue a matrimony that wasn’t fulfilling, the website writes, and he is now asking for shared legal and physical custody of the kids.
He was apparently the one to file for the end of their marriage and People magazine recently reported he is ready to “move forward” with his life.
The pair tied the knot in 1996 and signed a pre-nup beforehand, but Chris claims it’s no longer valid due to how long they have been married. And documents obtained by TMZ show Chris had already begun planning how their property would be split up in November.
Malaak has spoken out about the situation following a claim from Chris that she can support herself, suggesting spousal support would be reduced.
"While recognising that this is a significant change, my children remain at the centre of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives," she said.
In the meantime Chris seems to be keeping himself occupied on social media. On Sunday, the day the divorce was announced, he wished fellow actor Denzel Washington a happy birthday with a post on his Whosay page.
“Today is the birthday of legendary actor Denzel Washington. And schools are closed all across America. Thank you president Obama. (sic)” Chris wrote.
