Christina Applegate at dance gala
Christina Applegate was among the twinkle-toed celebrities who turned out for a charity gala to provide dance education to disadvantaged children.
The Anchorman actress was joined by Dharma and Greg star Jenna Elfman, Modern Family starlet Sarah Hyland and singer Paula Abdul for the Dizzy Feet Foundation's Annual Celebration of Dance in Los Angeles.
Dressed in a metallic bronze gown, Christina said she was proud to serve as a board member for the charity, which was founded by super producer Nigel Lythoe and director Adam Shankman.
Speaking on the red carpet, she said: I'm a dancer, I love dance, and Nigel and Adam asked me to be on the board so I serve as a side bar board member and I'm proud of what they have achieved."
She was joined by statuesque actress Jenna Elfman, who is also on the board of the charity.
"I was a dancer myself, I still dance and I know what dance has done for me. It is amazing for your confidence, for exercise, for your creativity, for your imaginative skills, for solving problems in your life and self -discipline, and I love helping an organisation that makes dance available to children and for promising dancers who are at great schools but can't afford their tuition. It helps them continue to train so we have great artists in our culture."
Asked what makes a truly great dancer, Jenna said: "Technique and joy" and explained those are the things she aims for. "I aim for technique, I always feel joy. I feel liberation and full freedom when I dance, it's the most free and liberating I feel. It's also great cardio, it works every muscle in your body."
