Christopher Biggins is planning to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp after being kicked off Celebrity Big Brother for making a Nazi joke directed at Jewish housemate Katie Waissel.

Christopher Biggins will visit the the Auschwitz concentration camp later this year (16) after being kicked off Celebrity Big Brother for making a Nazi joke.

The 67-year-old was already planning a trip to Krakow in Poland in October, but has now decided to turn the break into a chance to remember the people killed and tortured in the camps.

His decision comes after he was evicted from the CBB house on Friday (05Aug16) after making an ill advised comment to Jewish housemate Katie Waissel.

He joked to the 30-year-old former X Factor contestant while fellow housemates were showering, "You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room."

Now Biggins is hoping to go some way to making amends for the jibe by visiting Auschwitz and paying his respects.

"I am going there. It will be my first time. I know it’s going to be horrible," he told The Sun newspaper. "I know it’s going to be ghastly. I know it’s going to be emotional.

"Before I went into the house, my partner Neil and I were talking about it because we just feel the whole scenario of the Jewish annihilation is so horrific that we wanted to experience it for ourselves.

"We’re going for five days in October. I’m really looking forward to it. Especially now after this incident."

Biggins added that being kicked out of the CBB house tops off what has been an incredibly difficult year. He has lost some of his closest celebrity friends, and has been reminded of the value of life.

"It’s been a hell of a year – Cilla (Black), Linda Bellingham, Victoria Wood, Caroline Aherne… It’s been just awful awful," he said. "I’ve lost 80 friends in the last two-and-a-half years – really close friends.

"I put it down to getting older and having too many friends. I have a bucket list now. You realise how life just fades away."
