Claire Danes has no idea what motherhood is "going to mean" for her life.
The Emmy-nominated actress is expecting her first child with her husband Hugh Dancy.
Claire and Hugh are simultaneously anxious and excited about welcoming their bundle of joy.
"[It's a] profound change," Claire told Anderson Cooper during an appearance on his show Anderson Live Thursday.
"There's no way of anticipating what that's going to mean for [Hugh and me] but we are very excited. We are going to love this person, I know that."
Claire feels that she is prepared for the parental responsibility.
She learned a lot from her own mother, who operated a childcare centre when Claire was growing up.
"My mom ran a toddler school in our loft; I grew up in the city," she explained.
"So I grew up with one-and two-year-olds all throughout my childhood, and I know about early childhood development - that particular window I am pretty educated on. Anything before and after I might have some trouble."
