Clooney ‘hunting for French home’
George Clooney reportedly has plans to expand his real-estate portfolio.
The 53-year-old actor recently became engaged to lawyer Amal Alamuddin. And the New York Post’s PageSix reports the couple are keen to set up their marital home on the French Riviera.
“Clooney has sent a request to real estate agents in the south of France. He is specifically shopping for a ‘house on the beach,’” a source told the outlet, adding, “One agent has found a possible nest for Clooney just outside St. Tropez.”
George is also said to be open to moving to London, where his bride-to-be is based. Apparently she plans to continue working in the UK after they wed, and both believe a home near the Mediterranean Sea would provide the perfect escape.
“I guess he hopes the London gloom will be relieved by escapes to the Cote d’Azur,” the insider explained.
George already boasts an impressive real-estate portfolio. PageSix reports he owns homes in Los Angeles, California and Los Cabos, Mexico in addition to his well-known property in Lake Como, Italy.
If he buys real-estate in the south of France, he may have friends not too far as well. The actor’s pals Brad Pitt and partner Angelina Jolie share a home in the Var region.
George is meanwhile said to be looking forward to a September wedding with Amal.
The couple reportedly became engaged in April after a whirlwind eight-month romance.
A spokesperson for the actor had not commented on the latest claims at press time.
