Clooney slams 'cruel' people
George Clooney knows people will always have different opinions on him and his love life.
The American actor’s love life has been the centre of attention for a long time, most recently with him being linked to Katie Holmes.
George is aware everyone has different opinions and tries not to let them effect him.
“I don’t even notice it anymore. It’s not worth my energy, and most of the time it’s harmless,” he told British magazine Look. “The secret is to remember that over a period of time, people are going to be incredibly kind to you as well as incredibly cruel.”
The 52-year-old star tries to remain positive amid the speculation surrounding his personal life. Even though he isn’t always content with his situation, George doesn’t feel the need to voice his negative opinions.
“Nobody wants to hear anyone complain, so I don’t do it. But fame has made life very different, and more complicated,” he explained. “When you become famous, you realise that most of the things you thought would be great about it are actually not so great.”
George believes finding success at a later age has taught him a lot about the industry. It was only in 1996 that he landed his first major film role in Robert Rodriguez’s hit film From Dusk till Dawn, following his stint on TV series ER.
He is grateful to have had enough time to live a normal life before being in the spotlight.
“I was 34 before [fame] hit. And I’d failed a lot, which meant I really understood how lucky success was,” he recalled. “I think the reason why a lot of young people are such screw-ups is because they didn’t have the luxury I had – I got to form important relationships and opinions before achieving success.”
