Clooneys ‘preparing for a baby’

George and Amal Clooney are supposedly ready to start a family, even though the actor recently said parenthood isn’t a priority of his.

The 37-year-old human rights attorney married the 54-year-old director-and-actor in September last year.

Amal is a prestigious lawyer overseeing a bevy of important legal cases through her firm and George is of course one of the busiest men in Hollywood, but it’s claimed they are both easing up on new professional pursuits to make room for a baby.

“They decided that it would be the right time,” a source told Us Weekly magazine. “Amal isn’t taking on extra work at the moment and just continuing with the cases she has.

“They recently visited a fertility centre. This is something they really want.”

Another source noted George is inspired to become a father soon because he “loves the relationships his friends have with their kids” and “he thinks that Amal will be a great mother”.

The couple are currently in the midst of renovating a home in the UK, which is located several miles outside of London.

The property is a 9,000 square-foot 17th century mansion, which has nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

And it’s claimed one of the rooms will be specially designed for the baby.

“The building plans include a nursery,” a third insider detailed. “They hope to have all the work done by Christmas.”

During an interview in May with CBS This Morning, George dismissed the idea of parenthood.

"I don't really [think about it]," he noted. "I mean, I've thought about it, I suppose, but it hasn't been high on my list.”

And in another recent chat with USA Today, George shared insight on his and Amal’s decision to live away from the big city.

The couple appreciate the slower pace.

“We’re 40 miles from London,” he told the outlet “It’s very different. And the town has been so welcoming to us. There’s a pub that we walk to — we walk through a graveyard to go to this pub. It’s fantastic. We’re on an island and the only other thing on this island with us is a dinner theatre.”
