Cole baffled by doppelganger jibes

Brendan Cole can't understand why people keep mistaking him for Strictly rival Anton du Beke

Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has grumbled that fans keep mistaking him for fellow professional Anton du Beke.

The show team has headed to Blackpool for this weekend's edition of the show, but Cole said many people he has met since arriving in the town have mistaken him for his rival who dances with Fiona Fullerton.

The BBC1 programme will be broadcast live from the Tower Ballroom once again tomorrow, returning after missing out the traditional visit last year.

Brendan - partnered with Sophie Ellis-Bextor -told his fans with a message online: "Well, arrived at the Tower in BP - been called Anton twice, wished well for Fiona's dance on Saturday three times and all before breakfast".

However his colleague Robin Windsor reassured him that he was not alone in being mistaken for another professional from the show. He said: "It's OK darling - I have been called Artem (Chigvintsev) four times this morning."

Confidence in the abilities of Brendan and Sophie has slipped slightly this week with bookmakers halving the odds of them exiting the contest this week.

Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams said: "We understand that Sophie is struggling this week and if she goes it will be one of the biggest shocks of recent reality TV times."

The company has also seen a flurry of bets for Susanna Reid - which has pushed her price to make her second favourite to win the contest, behind Natalie Gumede.
