Coleen: Cancer is constant worry

Coleen Nolan says she is constantly worried about cancer

Coleen Nolan has said she is constantly worried about cancer since her sister Bernie's death from breast cancer and two of her other sisters having had the disease.

The Loose Women presenter said that Bernie, Anne and Linda all having been diagnosed made her think that there must be a chance she would be affected, too.

She said: "It's a constant worry. I never stop checking myself and I go every six months to see the specialist. In my mind, if three of my sisters had it, it's got to be linked. It can't be coincidence."

Coleen added that she didn't feel ready to tour without Bernie, whose cancer returned incurably before they could do their farewell tour in 2013: "There's been talk about the three of us - me, Maureen and Linda - doing it as a tribute to Bernie, but it just feels too soon for me.

"I can't imagine touring without Bernie. I don't know what part of that I'd enjoy. There would be a space that none of us could fill."

She admitted that Bernie's cancer returning had also made work at Loose Women difficult before her break from the programme for two years: "I was getting irritable before I left. We'd be talking about something and I'd just want to scream, 'It doesn't matter, because my sister's cancer has come back!' But I couldn't."

:: Coleen's second autobiography, No Regrets, is published by Penguin, priced £16.99. Available now.
