Colin Firth's co-stars teased him about being on a “most beautiful” list.
The British stars had a lot of fun shooting the comedy drama Arthur Newman. Colin claims that working on a female-dominated movie set was a real challenge for him as it made him the target of most of the jokes.
“Emily did abuse me all the time and I was outnumbered,” he told Chicago-Sun Times. “There were more women than men on this set. They even teased me about being in that People Most Beautiful issue.
“But I retorted that I made the beautiful list back when I was beautiful.”
Emily was happy to continue poking fun at Colin during their promotional duties for Arthur Newman.
She recalled how the famously reserved Oscar-winner called her to pass on his birthday well wishes in his own special way.
“He went, ‘Er, happy birthday, I left you a text - bye,’” Emily laughed.
Colin was quick to defend his actions, insisting his behaviour was bursting with personality.
“I thought my birthday message was charming,” he smiled.
In Arthur Newman, which is released in the US this week, Colin plays the title role. The movie follows a man who fakes his own death and creates a new identity in a bid to escape his life. Emily plays a woman who is also trying to reinvent herself.
