Colin Firth: Rickman exposed it all

Colin Firth

Colin Firth knows Alan Rickman "better than his doctor" after they filmed a nude scene.

The British stars both appear in crime caper Gambit. During one sequence, Colin's art curator character visits Alan in his office. Alan had to strip off and appear naked, with Colin joking he saw a lot more than expected.

"You think you saw a lot of Alan Rickman. I know him better than his doctor now," he quipped during a TV interview.

Colin and Alan spent some time rehearsing for the scene. They worked out how to protect Alan's modesty and stop him showing too much to cinemagoers. However, they hit upon a problem after arriving on set and realizing the office had huge glass windows.

"Alan was saying we will do that Austin Powers thing where I stand here naked and there will be a daffodil in front of me strategically placed," Colin recalled. "I had my back to the wall but Alan didn't know that the wall was going to be glass with the whole of the city of London behind it. For about four or five days there were people working in offices a few feet away who were looking at him."

Colin's co-star Cameron Diaz added that it wasn't just office workers who caught a glimpse of Alan in the nude.

"There was also a roof terrace just across the way and people were out there smoking and watching," she laughed.
