Michelle Collins has admitted she is finding it surreal becoming the new landlady in Coronation Street as she grew up watching the soap.
The former EastEnders star - famous for playing the villainous Cindy Beale in Albert Square for ten years until 1998, is about to appear behind the bar of the Rovers Return as Stella Price - and revealed at the British Soap Awards that it has taken some getting used to.
Michelle said: "Well I haven't been in EastEnders for a long long time, obviously, but it does feel a little bit surreal to be serving Ken and Deirdre in the pub - that's a little bit bizarre.
"But it's great actually. Everyone's really lovely and I'm really enjoying it. It's hard work but I knew it would be. Things have moved on since my day - it's five days a week now, five episodes a week, and it was only three when I did it, so they're very long hours, but it's fine."
The ex-EastEnders' allegiances have already changed when it comes to which soap is best. Michelle said: "Of course Corrie - I have to say that don't I? I've been brought up with Corrie, that's what's so bizarre, I can't quite get my head around that I'm in it really, but it's fun."
