Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn 'approached to compete in Dancing On Ice'
Katie Price, Alex Gerrard and Michelle Heaton are other names being bandied around for the new series.
Coronation Street beauty Katie McGlynn has reportedly been approached to star in revived TV talent show Dancing On Ice.
The 23-year-old actress, who plays Sinead Tinker on the ITV soap, is apparently on bosses wish list to get her skates on for the upcoming series.
And according to The Sun newspaper, Katie is understood to be "very keen" on the potential gig.
"Katie loves the idea of trying something new so Dancing On Ice is a perfect opportunity," a source told the publication. "She’s well-liked, popular with viewers and exactly the sort of person they’ve been looking for."
The programme ran for nine series from 2006 to 2014, when it was axed because of poor viewing figures. However, channel boss Kevin Lygo decided earlier this year to bring back the show, in which celebrities are put through their paces on the rink to create impressive routines for viewers' pleasure.
The new series won't begin until next January (18), but producers are said to be keen to get a potential list of contenders together so they can trial them before announcing the official line-up.
"There’s no point in hiring famous faces for them to end up totally unable to skate," the source added.
Other names said to be on the ITV wish list include Katie's Corrie co-star Brooke Vincent, model Alex Gerrard, Loose Women star Katie Price and singer Michelle Heaton.
According to reports, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are set to return for the new series, but as judges instead of mentors, while the show's resident nasty judge, Jason Gardiner, is also expected to make a comeback.
