Cowell: Carey not in US X Factor
Mariah Carey will not be a judge on the US X Factor, Simon Cowell has said.
The show's creator and head judge revealed Mariah is no longer in the running for the American version of the reality talent show because of her pregnancy.
"I can rule out Mariah. She was literally going to be, like, eight months pregnant, and that wasn't going to work," he told New York Magazine.
Music mogul LA Reid will join Simon in the judge's seat, with two more positions to be announced shortly.
"I'm guessing that within a week, or two weeks maximum, we can announce something. We didn't intend to be in this position, where all the people we were talking to were [made it] public. But I don't really have a problem with it," Simon added.
Simon - who gave up his American Idol seat to focus on the launch of the US X Factor - admitted he was getting bored of the other show.
"I was not happy being on the show any more. I left the show on fantastic terms. I still talk to Randy (Jackson, judge) and Ryan (Seacrest, host) on a regular basis," he said.
"Other people connected to the show have made it public they think the show's better without me. It's why I left in the first place: we were just on different pages. I'm happy to be doing something new, he's thrilled not to have me, the contestants are happy, the judges are happy."
