Simon Cowell has said it felt empowering to press his Golden Buzzer for Bars And Melody at the Britain's Got Talent auditions.

The ITV talent show's head judge chose the schoolboy singing and rapping duo of Leondre Devries and Charlie Lenehan to go straight through to the live semi-finals using the Golden Buzzer, a new addition this year that allows each judge to pick one act to champion.

Simon, who was the last judge to choose an act, told ITV: "It felt empowering. Everyone went nuts and they were really emotional. They are really great kids.

"I like the fact that they wrote their own song based on life experiences. People are going to root for them and they've got this great friendship that is so obvious when you watch them together."

He added of their chances to win: "When you've got that kind of support from the public going into the finals, it helps. So I think they're going to do well."

Amanda Holden chose salsa-dancing 80-year-old Paddy and her dance partner Nico to go through to the next stage, David Walliams caused controversy by buzzing for Cristian Grigore Spiridon's questionable rendition of Tom Jones hit Sex Bomb, and Alesha Dixon picked girl band REAformed.

Capricorn:

Your dry humour will be very popular. It's always difficult bringing a large group of people together. Everybody feels like they are walking on eggshells. After cracking a few jokes, you'll put the group at ease. Resist the temptation to make fun of relatives, especially the more sensitive members of the group. Nobody likes feeling singled out. Watching a light hearted comedy can also be a great way to generate a festive atmosphere. This is a time when people can put their differences aside.More
