Cowell: I feel like One Direction’s dad

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell is moved by the tremendous success of his boy band act One Direction.

The British boyband found fame on Simon's UK TV show The X Factor and signed with his label SyCo after it finished.

One Direction is currently promoting their new documentary This Is Us and Simon gushed over the success of his protégés at the London premiere for the movie.

"This is a dream,” he told British newspaper The Mirror.

“I feel like a father."

Simon has always been protective over One Direction and put together a magnificent management team to ensure they stay on track.

"No, we have the very best team imaginable for the boys," he told Heat magazine recently. "They are the most grounded artists I've ever worked with. They're really nice boys, so there are no tantrums. It's my job to make sure they are happy."

Simon is soon to become a real father, as it was recently revealed that he is expecting a child with American socialite Lauren Silverman.

Lauren was married to Simon's friend Andrew Silverman, a New York based real estate mogul, but their divorce was finalised last week.

According to insiders One Direction, which is comprised of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, were among the first people to congratulate Simon on his baby news.
