Simon Cowell has joked that he would like to pay someone to get up in the night with his new baby, revealing he was raised by nannies himself.

The TV mogul is set to become a father for the first time with New York socialite, Lauren Silverman, and has revealed that he is planning to be a hands-on dad, reported the Daily Mail.

But asked about getting up in the night during a chat on TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live, he said: "Can't you just pay someone to do that?

"I will probably do it once or twice."

Simon, whose mum Julie used to be a ballet dancer, went on: "I was brought up by nannies. I didn't recognise my mum until I was about three or four."

The 53-year-old has already insisted that he will not deal with dirty nappies when he and Lauren welcome their new arrival, who is rumoured to be a boy.

He recently told BBC Breakfast: "I'm not doing that, 100 per cent absolutely not going near that."
