Simon Cowell has said Mariah Carey will be involved in the US version of The X Factor, despite being out of the running for a place on the judging panel.
The Hero singer was ruled out as a judge on the new show because she would be too heavily pregnant when filming starts, but series creator Simon vowed to get the star taking part.
"I think Mariah will have a role on the live shows, I met her recently and she was on great form," he told the 92.9 ZZU radio show in Washington.
"Her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with, but she'll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits."
Simon said Mariah couldn't have come on board as a judge because, "I would literally have to have the auditions in a maternity unit or something, and I think that's stretching it."
Music mogul LA Reid will join Simon in a judge's seat, with two more positions to be announced shortly.
"We're getting close on the other two, we're getting down to the wire I think now," Simon hinted.
