Cruise's home swarmed by police
Tom Cruise's California home was surrounded by police on Thursday after someone alerted authorities an armed intruder was on the property.
A photo published by TMZ shows several police vehicles parked in front of the residence and law enforcement officials on patrol.
The website reports an unidentified person placed a call to 911 about the alleged intruder.
Nothing suspicious was found.
It was unknown at press time if Tom was home at the time of the incident.
Law enforcement sources tell the outlet they believe the call was a prank.
It would be the latest "celebrity swatting" incident, so named for bogus reports intended to lead SWAT teams to the homes of high-profile individuals.
A 12-year-old was arrested in December for prank calling 911 with similar reports targeting the homes of Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber.
Investigators told CBSLA.com they believe the boy was responsible for responses to Ashton's Hollywood Hills home on October 3 and to Justin's Los Angeles residence on October 10.
Miley Cyrus and Simon Cowell have also been targeted in such pranks but the boy has not been connected to those incidents.
