Cruz confirms baby report
Penelope Cruz has confirmed she is pregnant with her second child with husband Javier Bardem.
The 38-year-old actress shares a two-year-old son named Leo with husband Javier Bardem.
Rumours have been swirling since January the couple are expecting.
Penelope released a statement confirming the news to Hola! Magazine.
“[We are] tremendously happy and very excited” her spokesperson said.
Penelope fuelled baby rumours when she was unable to travel from the US to her native Spain for the Goya Awards on Sunday.
Penelope began dating 43-year-old Skyfall actor Javier in 2007. The couple married in July 2010 in the Bahamas.
The Vanilla Sky actress opened up about motherhood to America’s Vogue magazine shortly after Leo was born in 2011.
“From the first second, you feel so much love,” she said.
The actress called being a first-time mother a “revolutionary experience”.
“That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second,” she explained.
A pregnancy for the star would mark the second round of baby news for Penelope’s family in recent weeks.
Her sister Monica announced last month she got pregnant with the help of an anonymous sperm donor.
The siblings are expected to be pregnant together for at least several weeks. Monica revealed she was expecting her first child later this year.
The dancer and model wrote about the baby news on her blog for Spanish newspaper El Pais.
“I'm going to be a mother!” she exclaimed, adding, “I have managed to fulfill the dream of a lifetime. Because of that, I want to share with all of you this special journey and be able to tell you about all of my experiences during this fascinating time.”
