Daisy Lowe off Strictly, Sam Lavery exits The X Factor
Honey G and Ed Balls, the underdogs on The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing respectively, have survived another week on their television competitions.
Daisy Lowe and Sam Lavery were the latest television talent show evictees on Sunday night (13Nov16).
Statuesque brunette model Daisy has been consistently failing to impress viewers with her fancy footwork on Strictly Come Dancing, and found herself in the bottom two alongside Olympian Greg Rutherford on Sunday's show.
After the dance-off, for which Daisy once again performed her salsa to Groove is in the Heart with partner Aljaz Skorjanec, it was left up to head judge Len Goodman to decide who should go home.
Making the decision, Len said: "Obviously because it's a split decision that shows the closeness of this competition. However I have to go with my brain and not my heart and my brain says the most polished and technical performance is Greg and Natalie."
After Len made his call, Daisy told host Tess Daly, "I've loved every minute, thank you for everything", before turning to Aljaz, thanking him and giving him a tender hug.
The feeling was clearly mutual as Aljaz told Daisy: "Thank you, you've been the most joyous in rehearsals, you've taught me so much. You're the most beautiful person inside out, you're a beautiful dancer. Thank you for making this Strictly experience unforgettable for me."
Daisy's exit means she misses out on the much anticipated Blackpool episode of Strictly, which will be taking place next week. But one person who is more than a little excited about heading to Blackpool is politician turned national treasure Ed Balls, who had left the judges speechless with his salsa to Psy's Gangnam Style on Saturday night (12Nov16).
Ed isn't the only underdog hitting headlines, as Honey G survived yet another week over on ITV's The X Factor.
Following Disco Week on the talent show, it was Sam Lavery who was sent home, after a sing-off with Ryan Lawrie. While Simon and Nicole Scherzinger voted to send Sam home, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh chose Ryan, meaning that the vote was sent to deadlock.
And referring back to the public vote, it was announced that Sam would be leaving because she had received fewer public votes.
Struggling to control her tears, Sam said: "Thank you, Simon (Cowell)... I look like a completely different person from my first audition - but for all the right reasons. Thank you all so much."
