Former Bond girl Dame Diana Rigg said she would love to see a black or lesbian 007.

However the Game of Thrones actress, who played Tracy Bond, the tragic wife of George Lazenby's James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, said she would rule out a straight female in the role.

She told the Radio Times: "A black Bond would be lovely. I wouldn't like to see a female Bond, because we wouldn't want to lose the Bond girls. But we could have a lesbian Bond, why not?"

Dame Diana, 77, who is now starring in You, Me and the Apocalypse on Sky 1, rose to fame as Emma Peel in The Avengers when "life changed overnight, more or less".

Despite her silver screen role as 007's wife, Rigg is much more a fan of television, especially Britain's contributions, and said she can mostly be found watching re-runs of Dad's Army.

"When I started, TV was regarded as something that wasn't as great as film, or theatre, or radio, but it has proved to have far greater powers than those.

"It's a very powerful medium now, and should be celebrated as such, because we have the greatest television in the world," Dame Diana said.

One thing the septuagenarian is not a fan of is politicians - in particular, Jeremy Corbyn.

Asked what makes her angry, Dame Diana replied, "Politicians. Particularly the current Labour leader, who drives me mad.

"He's one of those well-intentioned men who creates chaos around him. I think politicians misjudge our intelligence. We can, and do, see through them. But I quite enjoy watching political programmes, because they get the heart going."

Dame Diana revealed she cries "all the time" at the TV and particularly the Remembrance Day celebrations. "In fact, anything to do with veterans make me sob.

"Anybody who can't pay their respects, like the Labour leader, needs his bottom spanking."
