Danniella Westbrook 'so excited' about EastEnders comeback
Danniella Westbrook wants Darren Day to play her husband in EastEnders if she reprises her role as Sam Mitchell full time.
Danniella Westbrook is "super excited" about playing Sam Mitchell in EastEnders again.
The 42-year-old actress will be reprising her role for the fifth time in the BBC soap to mark Barbara Windsor filming her final scenes as her on-screen mother Peggy Mitchell.
Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden will also be returning as Sam's brothers Grant and Phil Mitchell, and Danniella is excited to have the original foursome back together again.
"I'm super excited to go back. I'm super excited to have the boys back together - Ross and Steve - and obviously Barbara," she said during an interview on Good Morning Britain on Monday (25Apr16). "The four of us back together will be, the original Mitchells back together, will be great."
Danniella is currently enjoying a career comeback following her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year (16). While she didn't win the show, she did what she wanted to during her time in the house - prove that she's employable again following years of drama and addiction in her personal life.
"I just went into Big Brother this year really to prove to people that I was employable, and that I'm ok. I came out the other side after 32 days of reality TV and back into the BBC, so I couldn't be happier.
"Coming out of Big Brother I felt hugely detached from the real world when I came out and I felt very institutionalised. I came out of there and got acting work and that's exactly what i went in there for - I went in to come out an actress, and that's what I am, and I'm happy with that."
While Danniella's return as Sam is only temporary at the moment, she's definitely up for taking on the role again permanently. And she has an idea for who would make a perfect on-screen lover for Sam.
"I'd like to come back full time... I'd like Darren Day to come in as my husband. I think he's a fabulous actor and I'd love to see him in EastEnders, I think he'd fit right in," she smiled.
