Danny O'Donoghue 'wants Beckham wedding'

Danny O'Donoghue wants to take home his The Voice spinning chair so he can get married in it - like "the Beckhams".

Victoria and David Beckham famously posed in a pair of golden thrones when they tied the knot in 1999.

The move made a big impact on Irish singer Danny, who is a mentor on the UK version of TV talent show The Voice. The judges have their backs turned when contestants audition on the programme, choosing to turn their chair by pressing as huge button if they like the sound of the hopeful's vocals.

Danny is planning to take his chair home when the series wraps.

"I haven't asked yet. I would love to keep my chair. It's my throne, I would get married in it - like the Beckhams," he laughed on BBC Radio 1.

The auditions have taken place now and Danny and fellow mentors Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am have picked five finalists each to be on their teams. The live shows kick off tomorrow, where all the contestants will belt out tunes and the public will vote on who they like the most.

Danny is worried about it, although not for the reason many would think.

"It's now going live... the rest were pre-recorded and you could censor me off from cursing. I think I'm the only one who has to sign a disclaimer. [Swearing] is part of the culture [in Ireland] it really is," he joked.

Danny was amazed when he heard who else was sitting on the panel with him. He wasn't sure if they would all get along as they are so different musically, although they have struck up strong friendships.

will.i.am has become renowned for wearing flamboyant outfits on the show, which Danny is a bit jealous about.

"Tom's very sharp. Me and him were drinking until two or three in the morning [when we went out]," he recalled.

"The first time we met it was four of us put in a room it sounded like a sketch from the The Simpsons when I heard who was on the panel.

"Will is TV gold. [He's] really funny. I want to swap jackets with him. He made a basketball into a jacket. He does drink, he's a wild animal that guy. He was drinking whatever was in this vast vat at the table - like a big fishbowl with straws, eight or nine of us sipping out of it!"
