David Arquette popped the question twice
David Arquette's new fiancée was initially too embarrassed to accept his proposal.
Last week it was confirmed that the 42-year-old actor had asked his partner of several years Christina McLarty to marry him. Even though the couple have two-month-old son Charlie together, Christina was initially unsure about the proposal.
"I take her outside... and then I ask her, and she’s like, ‘No, what are you doing? There are so many people watching!’" David laughed to Aspen Peak magazine’s Erin Lentz.
The pair were at a restaurant in Malibu called Mastro's Ocean Club when David decided to pop the question. Although Christina was initially too shocked to accept, he persevered.
"I had a do-over, and it worked," he giggled.
It may have taken Christina two times to say yes, but she is now thrilled to be engaged. David secured a ring from her favourite jewellery store, Roseark, and Christina was spotted out wearing it at a party over the weekend.
The actor made his proposal a family affair as his ten-year-old daughter Coco, whose mom is his ex-wife Courteney Cox, was also present. Pictures of the moment he asked the big question have been posted online, with David and Christina seen laughing together by the seafront in Malibu. He is casually dressed in a white T-shirt and dark jeans, while Christina also looks casual in a patterned dress and denim shirt. Coco looks on as her father proposes and the group are seen looking excited and beaming too each other shortly afterwards.
"He asked her with Coco and Charlie at a family dinner because he wanted the kids to be there and all of them to be together," a source told Us Weekly last week.
"She was in the restroom at dinner and when she came out, he told her Charlie had been screaming and crying in the restaurant and asked her and Coco to come calm him down outside, and that's when he asked her to marry him."
