David Beckham has confirmed his move to Paris St Germain.
At a press conference held in the French capital today, the British soccer star revealed he is joining the Ligue 1 team in a "unique" five-month deal. He also announced his salary - rumoured to be £150,000-a-week - will be donated to charity.
"I won't receive any salary, we have decided my salary will go towards a local children's charity in Paris and that is one of the things we are very excited and proud to do," he explained. "I am very lucky to have earned what I have earned throughout my career."
As he was unveiled to the public, David joked that his French was poor and he would need to "brush up".
"I haven't spoken French for quite a few years, since I was a school so that is definitely a few years," he said.
When asked to say something in French, he smiled and said, "Bonjour".
Earlier in the day, 37-year-old David looked relaxed as he arrived at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris to undergo a medical examination.
As he flew to France this morning, the star posted a picture of himself on his Facebook page and wrote: "On way to Paris, excited. I will update you all later."
There is speculation David will make his debut for PSG in a home game on February 8.
David, who was linked to the club last year, is believed to have been persuaded to sign with the French team because of their generous "family package".
The deal includes a luxury home complete with swimming pool, cinema and gym which will surely please his fashion designer wife Victoria and their four children. It has also been reported that the couple will have their choice of lavish apartments in Paris.
"Luxury accommodation is all part of the family package - it's one which was worked on last year, and which has now been finalised," a source told MailOnline.com. "A superstar like David Beckham wants the very best and that's what he's going to get."
Victoria is said to be thrilled with her husband's decision, as the move to the chic city will surely benefit her fashion empire.
The Beckhams are currently living in London after returning to the UK following David's departure from US soccer team LA Galaxy.
