David Beckham 'spoiling Victoria for birthday'

David and Victoria Beckham

David Beckham is planning a surprise romantic trip for his wife Victoria as a belated birthday gift.

The singer-turned-fashion designer celebrated her 39th birthday in London yesterday, while David remained in France with his soccer team Paris Saint-Germain. However, he is determined to celebrate Victoria’s special day in style and has organised a secret trip for her.

David has booked flights for Victoria, their four children, and extended family members to visit Paris, then he will whisk his wife away so they can spend some romantic time together.

“Obviously, they spoke lots and he’d arranged a series of small gifts, including flowers, to be with her on the day, courtesy of the kids,” a source told British newspaper The Mirror.

“But his main present is flights for the whole family, including the grandparents, to join him in the French capital. He and Victoria have hardly spent any time together of late and so David’s saying he’s going to spoil her rotten and make up for lost time.

“The grandparents are on babysitting duty, meaning David has a whole day and night alone with wife. He’s booked a five-star hotel and will pull out all the stops.”

Victoria spent her birthday with her children and close pal Tana Ramsay, the wife of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The group enjoyed dinner at upmarket Japanese restaurant Nobu in Mayfair, and Victoria brightened up her trademark black wardrobe with a vibrant red jacket. Earlier in the day, Victoria and Tana visited a health club and then had lunch together.

“So much fun on my birthday!! Thank u so much!!!! X vb,” Victoria wrote on her Twitter page. “Thank you for all your messages! Having a special day with my boys and Harper x (sic).”

Despite rumours of a rift between Victoria and her Spice Girls bandmates after she ruled out a world tour, the star did receive warm wishes from them yesterday. Mel B sent Victoria a bouquet of flowers, while Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell took to Twitter to mark the special day.

“@victoriabeckham hey birthday girl, have a lovely day!!” Emma wrote, with Geri hoping Victoria had “an amazing day” and Mel C tweeting: “Happy Birthday to the beautiful @victoriabeckham Have a lovely day darling xxx (sic).”

It has been claimed Victoria is already planning the “party of the decade” when she turns 40 next year.
