David Schwimmer's celeb spot at the Great Wall of China
David Schwimmer thought he'd be walking the Great Wall of China by himself in the early hours of the morning - until he spotted Glenn Close.
David Schwimmer thought it would be too "weird" to tell Glenn Close how much of a fan he was when he spotted the actress walking the Great Wall of China at 5am.
The former Friends star visited the country with a friend recently for work, but made sure to set aside some time to see the sights.
He and his pal arrived at the Great Wall at 5 o' clock in the morning to avoid the crowds, but they ended up having an almost-encounter with the most unlikely familiar face.
"It was completely deserted, it was great. We thought, 'Wow, we can walk this ourselves,'" David recalled to talk show host James Corden on The Late Late Show. "There was crazy, beautiful fog everywhere, but it was just us...
"I see two people emerge from fog slash pollution, and I'm like, 'Woah, two other people got up this early.' And we're walking towards each other, and I'm like, 'This is a little bizarre. What do we do, do we say hello?' We're the ONLY people on the great wall. And then as they get closer to me I see that it's Glenn Close and her husband, or partner, I'm not sure," he explained. "I'd never met Glenn Close, I'm a huge fan of hers, Fatal Attraction... I thought it would be a little weird to say, 'Hey, I'm a fan.' You know, she's having her moment at the Great Wall, so we just kind of walked by Glenn Close and let her pass," he smiled.
James, the audience and fellow guest on the sofa Rebel Wilson were all amused by the story, with the host jokingly advising people to flock to the Great Wall in the early hours of the morning to spot celebrities.
The fun didn't stop there as David, Rebel and James had a rap battle on the show, with the Pitch Perfect actress emerging victorious. One of her best lines referred to the actor's stint on sitcom Friends, as Rebel quipped: "David, your career, it's a huge mistake, it's like Ross and Rachel, it's on a break."
