Debra Messing ‘takes flu precautions’

Debra Messing

Debra Messing is said to be so terrified of catching flu on the set of Smash she has taken drastic steps to protect herself from germs.

The actress portrays Julia Houston in the US musical TV show. She has experienced a tough time over the last few months after contracting two terrible bouts of flu.

According to National Enquirer becoming so sick has left a lasting impression on the 44-year-old. She is determined not to succumb to illness again, so has requested that anyone in her proximity takes steps not to infect her. This means hair stylists, make-up artists and wardrobe staff have apparently all been strapping on masks before taking to her.

"If one of the extras so much as sneezes, they're immediately sent home - with pay! Even guest stars get strict instructions; if they have to touch Debra, they'd better sanitize their hands first," a source laughed to the publication.

The flame-haired actress is apparently aware her dedication to remaining healthy has become something of a joke on set. Rather than hiding behind written missives containing her demands, Debra apparently approached them front on.

"I'm sorry, everyone, but I'm not getting sick again! You'll all just have to put up with me," she is said to have jokingly announced.
