DeGeneres and Rossi moving to Australia?

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

Ellen DeGeneres is thinking about leaving Los Angeles and moving with her wife Portia de Rossi to the actress’ native Australia.

The couple married back in 2008 and currently reside in Los Angeles.

Portia was born in the southeast state of Victoria and Ellen admits she’s been contemplating a move Down Under for some time now.

The 55-year-old comedienne was filming an episode of her American television programme The Ellen DeGeneres Show when she addressed a crowd of 3,000 people in Melbourne and hinted at her plans, according to Australian newspaper News Limited.

"I'm moving here, it's so beautiful,” she said.

Ellen confessed she’s had a long love affair with Australia despite never having visited before.

She continued to gush about the country just in case her captive audience didn’t believe she was genuine.

"I've wanted to come to Australia for a long, long time, before meeting Portia,” she said, adding, “I shouldn't put it out there, but I can see us living here one day.”

Portia has joined Ellen on the trip to her home and will undoubtedly show her the sights.

The couple have already visited the actress’ alma mater, Melbourne Girls Grammar School, where they spent some time with students on Monday, the Associated Press reports.

The pair have also been accompanied by Ellen’s mother, Betty.

Ellen is believed to have lined up a string of Aussie stars for her show’s tour of Oz.

Russell Crowe reportedly gave the comedienne a pair of kangaroo-hide whips to help her catch “brumbies”, or wild horses, while she’s in town.
