Only Fools And Horses star Tessa Peake-Jones is joining long-running medical drama Holby City as the "tricky, fastidious, complicated" new boss of the hospital.
The actress, who played Del Boy's put-upon partner Raquel in the sitcom, will play acting chief executive Imelda Cousins.
Viewers will see her arrive next month to take over after current boss Henrik Hanssen, played by Guy Henry, leaves the hospital in the lurch.
Tessa said: "I'm loving the chance to come into the show as the top dog - working on all the wards and bossing everyone around is just my cup of tea."
Consultant series producer Justin Young said he was "delighted" she was joining the cast.
He said: "She is absolutely compelling as the tricky, fastidious, complicated Imelda Cousins and Imelda's appointment as acting CEO will have huge consequences for some of our best-loved characters.
"In the build-up to Christmas, her brilliant performance will keep viewers on the edge of their seats."
The show is broadcast at 8pm on Tuesday on BBC1.
